Set up a collection hostname

A collection hostname is a dedicated subdomain such as traffic.example.com. It serves the probe and receives events; ads continue opening your website directly.

1. After your first credit purchase, open Sites → Settings → Collection domain.
2. Enter only the subdomain; the UI keeps the website's root domain fixed.
3. Select Add custom domain and copy the displayed CNAME target.
4. Create the CNAME at your DNS provider and remove conflicting records for that name.
5. Wait for active DNS and valid TLS.
6. Publish the updated site's tracking snippet and select Validate.

DNS propagation and certificate issuance can take several minutes. Keep one hostname assigned to one site and environment. The hostname is not a link shortener or campaign destination.

After selecting Remove custom domain, copy and publish the current default-domain snippet. Existing pages containing the removed hostname need updating.
